Winter Constellations

My fondest memories of winter are as a child, playing out in the snow, building snowmen until I could no longer feel my fingers and staying out until the street lights came on when my parents had to drag me inside. So, you can imagine my pure joy when I woke up a few weeks ago to see our village had turned into a Winter Wonderland overnight. After a snow day off work, I couldn’t wait for my boyfriend to get home so I could run outside and shoot this outfit.

I snapped this gorgeous dress up in the winter sales from Reserved (reduced again since I bought it, nudge nudge) and I am obsessed! I hadn’t shopped at Reserved before but grabbed this with another dress, a starry (who would’ve guessed?) shirt and the bag that I wore in my first post. I’m honestly so impressed with the quality of them all for such good prices. I’ve been a fan of galaxy print for a long time so have been all over the star print trend this season – it feels really wintery without being too festive, if that makes sense. Genuinely I’m still so gutted that I missed out on those beautiful Topshop star print velvet trousers that I saw in the Boxing Day sales in my size, told myself I didn’t “need” then haven’t stopped thinking about ever since they went out of stock (if you know the ones I’m referring to, you’ll understand *sobs*). So yeah, when I spotted this ‘Space Woman’ dress online it was an instant yes. It features gorgeous ribbon tie shoulders, a low v on both sides, added hem and little glitter details on the planets. I’m not usually one for long dresses, or glitter for that matter, but I think the way it flows and subtly sparkles really adds to the space vibe.

I paired the dress with a basic Primark cream knit jumper underneath, because as you can imagine it was freezing out there and layers were a necessity, threw over a long camel coat and patent croc effect bag, both from a local vintage shop, and added an Asos belt and tights with my staple black leather boots from Urban Outfitters. Granted, these shoes weren’t the most practical choice for the weather conditions (I had to tiptoe down the driveway) but I loved them with the outfit, so what can you do?

This shoot was so much fun and the pictures make me miss the snow, but I have to admit I’m ready to move on from the following endless rainy days. I do love winter and any excuse to live in oversized knits, layers and big cosy jackets (if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen an abundance of these), but I’m also looking forward to warmer days and not having to cover every cute outfit with a waterproof puffer coat! What are your thoughts, are you ready for Spring, or not prepared to give up the cosy layers just yet? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. Here’s some cheesy pictures of me playing in the snow, because clearly my inner child couldn’t resist.
